Circuits in the Woods is a reminder that there are as many ways to make music as there are musicians.
You’ll hear artists working entirely with synthesizers and electronic instruments, alongside musicians using electronics to transform acoustic instruments, field recordings, samples, and the human voice.
At any given minute, you can expect to hear hip-hop, experimental improv, heavy psych, deep groove, yacht rock, operatic pop, ambient, motorik, synth pop, and music that defies categorization.
Including performances, workshops, talks, and hands-on experiences.
All within a 6 minute walk on Main Street, Brattleboro.
A full day of music, experimentation, and community.
Location
Everything takes place in beautiful downtown Brattleboro, Vermont. The "main stage" is Marigold Bar & Cafe, with Tavernier Chocolates, Turn It Up!, and The Wonky Press hosting other performances and events.
Vermont's Contributions to Electronic Music
This festival traces the ley lines that map Vermont's importance to the evolution and continuation of electronic music.
The Green Mountain State is home to the origins of electronic music. The invention of the analog synthesizer was completed in Brattleboro. Some 60 miles north, the Synclavier was developed in White River Junction.
The Festival Organizers
The festival was founded by WFMU DJ and Radio Free Brattleboro co-founder Wendy M. Levy, who is co-producing the event with Eric Gagne of Nova Arts, Stage 33 Live SynthFest organizers Joseph Conrad and Trevor Robinson, WVEW radio hosts Johnny Gifford and Jeremy Osborn, and electronic musician C Puffer.
